Le stade Omar Bongo de Libreville devait être retenu pour abriter le match d'ouverture et la finale mais en raison d'un retard de travaux, le stade ne pourra pas être livré a temps.
Donc le comité d'organisation de la CAN a décidé, le 13 octobre 2016, de disqualifier ce stade.
Il sera remplacé par le Stade de l'Amitié (Stade d'Angondjé), qui avait déjà abrité des matchs de la CAN 2012.
